Pleasure Of Ignorance

In 2016 I collaborated with the Latvian Probation Service and five of their clients by providing a nine month weekly photography workshop devised as a social art project. The participants were given a disposable camera and tools to help them capture the world as they see it. The resulting photographs are a reflection into both the process and result of five accidental artists on the margins of the criminal justice system.

The project was part of the 2018 Riga Photography Biennial, with a book of more than 1000 pages – including all those shot during the workshops – at its core. In the exhibition, at the Latvian Museum of Photography, the audience was invited to explore the pleasure of ignorance by choosing how to fill four available frames with their own selection from 75 photographs.
